While we're playing "what if", think about the things that might not get "Steved" if he is no longer managing what is/not produced by Apple, day-to-day. I have a feeling that things work a certain way because of his hands-on style (aka tantrums and the Reality Distortion Field).

Ferinstance, I use voice recognition on my Windows Mobile phone. It is actually very, very good. I can say "Call Woody" and without previous training, it will look up Woody in my contacts and dial him - unless I have multiple numbers for him and it might speak back to me "Call Home, Work, or Work Two", and I say "Home" and then it dials. There is no reason this couldn't be done on an iPhone other than the fact that Steve Jobs doesn't like it. The iPhone begs for speech recog since it has no tactile feedback.
