Having said that, concerns have been expressed in the past that there is a risk
that the aging electronics in the Newton may not be able to withstand the
current load of recharging batteries anymore; but I don't believe that this has
been substantiated yet.

I'm not in Europe but the subject brings up a question. Can original
2000/2100 batteries be repaired/refurbished? I have two that the Newton
says cannot be charged. Now I have one rechargeble and one for AA
batteries.
