You can using commands such as `screen`, but Terminal.app is really a
shell application so all it gets you access to is your user's shell
(usually `bash` or `tcsh`, depending on the version of Mac OS X).
Third-party terminal applications such as ZTerm & CoolTerm usually
offer options for direct serial communications (in addition to telnet
& ssh) so it's easier to initiate.
