Hi:

I'm not sure that I am decidedly optimistic about the future.  I am both optimistic and pessimistic.  3 dimensional thinking...

I'm optimistic because I think technology can save the world.  I'm pessimistic because government and companies could stymie access to that technology.  Invent the food replicator did you?  Just got offered $50 million for a buyout of the patents by AT&T?...

I think what this comes down to is that we are each responsible for this future.  Some things aren't worth the money.  I hope we get to a point where the overarching principles inherent in each of us revolve around the following rule: never profit off the suffering of another.
