John

I was part of the test group for the eMate patch.

When we did the test, I never used the RomPatch.pkg so when I saw it in the zip
package I ignored it. After doing a quick check on Eckhart's site, I see that
he also advises to ignore the other .pkg files.

Since the RomPatch.pkg file is undocumented you may need to contact Eckhart
directly to find out what it did.

In the meantime, I suggest you reboot your eMate, freeze all unnecessary
packages and then install the patch (73J186.pkg) and see how you go.

I patched my second eMate last night and didn't even have a memory card
installed but then I have an eMate with 4MB of memory. When I think about it
both my eMates have the upgraded memory How much memory does yours have?

I was able to patch my MP2100 without any problem. But I have been
unsuccessful with my Emate 300. After installing the RomPatch.pkg and
resetting, I tried to install the 73J186 Patch. I received this error
message: "An error has occurred during loading; probably out of memory.
The system update was not installed."

I have an additional memory card installed and it is labeled WWEI 2MV
94v-0. Do I need yet more memory and if so where would I get it? Could
there be any other cause for this error?
