Thanks Joe!  "Acoustic coupler" -- that term had completely slipped my mind
-- I blame age.  The problem is finding them now; they used to be on sale
but they were priced at the -- wait for it -- "road warrior", so they were
always too rich for my blood.  I'm hoping I'll see one on the cheap.

My thought is that, although the thing was painful to use with my laptop, it
might actually be fun to try to get it working with my Newton.

Yeah, yeah, but words like "fun" can mean all sorts of different things.
