Hi Moshe.
It may be useful for your development to try downloading the Newton
Connection Tools (Windows). It implements a serial communication "spy" for
newton protocol inspection. Please note that you don't need a license code
for this. It may allow you not only to see what happens between the Newton
and you synchronization software, but separate it in the MNP5 and the
Newton Protocol part.

The Newton Connection Tools has in fact a tool that allow the users to
invoke global functions in the newton.

You can download it form
http://usuarios.arnet.com.ar/mtu16/index.htm

Please, led me know if I can help you with something else.
Good luck,
Andy.
