[NTLK] Verizon and the iPhone

I think it is a good move on Apple's part. I still be staying with my current iPhone 4 plan on AT&T as I have 1 1/2 years left on my contract. I tried 3 Android phones last year before getting the iPhone 4, they were the Evo, Epic, and Droid; and all three user interfaces really sucked. No consistency and all felt like the OS was cobbled together just to get something out there that is close to an iPhone.

The same thing happened with Windows over the Mac UI and the Palm over the Newton UI; I guess people will use something close to the original that costs a few pennies less. I myself like the original and will pay a tad more to use a better user interface. From using the Newton we all know that Apple is all about a batter user interface design. This is one area Apple has never been to get people to understand as most of them talk about "Apple tax" or "apple control". With all of the confusing app stores, confusing user interfaces and malware out for Android, I am glad I choose the better choice for me - iPhone.

> As many of you already have iPhones, I am curious as to your thoughts about this morning's Major Announcement: "iPhone Comes to Verizon" (http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2011/01/verizon-iphone-no-longer-a-myth-available-in-february.ars ).

> I am wary of starting such a discussion here as it is definitely off-topic (from our beloved Newtons)...but it's also been a few days since there's been any activity, so I thought I'd "kick the sleeping dog" and maybe start up some discussion.

> What do you think? Are you more or less tempted to buy an iPhone now? Myself, I'd stick with AT&T for now...for one thing, there's no simultaneous phone/data use available on the Verizon iPhone (not possible on the CDMA network). And, Verizon's 3G is allegedly slower than AT&T's (http://technolog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/01/11/5813972-five-reasons-not-to-buy-the-verizon-iphone-yet ).
