Oh well. I have already tired all of the solutions listed there. I left the
Newton off overnight to do the test, and then left it off again all day
today. No dice. I really don't think that is my problem, as the gentleman
who sold me the Newton didn't have a power supply and hadn't used it in
many years. The capacitor should have been long discharged.

Whether it was working or not, I think an employee at Radio Shack applied
power to the Newton incorrectly. I was trying to make sure that I was
buying the correct tip, so the girl behind the counter said she could test
it to be sure. Unfortunately I should have done it myself. before I could
catch her, she put the tip the negative setting and plugged it in. Since
the Newton power supply is positive polarity at the tip, wouldn't that
cause problems?

If this is my problem, is there anything that I can do about it? If she did
this, what components would it affect? WOuld a new motherboard fix the
issue?

Thanks for the responses!
