Everybody from Alberta makes an annual trek to BC (and all generalizations are wrong) just to warm up (our trees are just starting to bud). When Albertans retire, we make a bee line to Vancouver Island or Kelowna.

This summer I’m going to spend a week in Long Beach, Washington, flying kites, with side trips to Seattle for Big John’s PFI, Ivar’s, Market Spice Tea, but no cheap booze anymore (darn you Costco!).

I have driven to the wet coast once or twice a year for over a decade. Around here, there really isn’t many alternatives, fly somewhere far away, visit the thriving metropolis of Saskatoon (hah, take that Calgary), or go to BC where life is beautiful all of the time (and they’re coming to take me away…).
