[NTLK] How to clean Newton?

There's a rubbery coating on the outside that the solvents in the cleaner you used partly dissolved.

Plain water is best to clean with; if necessary, just a trace of mild soap in the water shouldn’t harm as long as not left in contact long.

Perhaps other list members know if there is any way to repair or restore the damage to the coating.
