Other than what has been mentioned already there is a physical way of
checking if you look at the MLB.
Underneath the ROM Board sits the location where the RAM is installed.
In the photo below (which is of an Upgraded MP2000 MLB) you can see that
there are two sets of pads to the left of the ROM Socket.
Originally the left set of pads were where the Base MP2000 RAM was
installed.
On the right set of pads in this photo is where the Upgraded RAM is
installed making it an UMP2000.
This example they also placed a Round Reddish sticker on the Cirrus Logic
chip.
