I think I've read somewhere that 2.0 devices could read from 5v/5v card, but
not write to them. Have you been able to read from the card, or is your MP120
reporting that it doesn't recognize the card upon insertion?
I might add that after looking at the specification for the new Pretec 16MB
5v/5v card I've just got <http://www.pretec.com/index2/product/SSD/fad.htm>,
I've read this portion of relevant info:
"
System Compatibility:
Apple Newton Message Pad 120 with OS 2.0 and above
Apple Newton Message Pad 130
Apple Newton Message Pad 2000
IBM compatible Notebook PCs, Laptops, Palmtops, or
Hand-held devices, etc.
"
and a little bit down:
"
Operating Voltage:
Read/Write/erase: 5V ± 5%
"
So, it looks from the Pretec site that, at least, their 5v/5v cards are
compatible with MP120 running NOS 2.0. Are you sure your MP120 is running NOS
2.0? If so, I'm kinda lost. I would have thought that any PCMCIA Type II
compliant cards would all behave the same, so if one manufacturer states its
5v/5v card works with a MP120/NOS 2.0, then all other compliant cards would
work, but maybe I'm wrong, after all...
I guess the real question would be: is there anyone on the list that is
successfully using a 5v/5v with a MP120 running NOS 2.0???
