This is due to overdischarge of the battery. I found this
myself. My own upgraded eMate can't even be charged if the battery
is down too far. You have to plug in the AC adapter and press the reset
button to even get the unit to start to charge. The symptom is that you
plug it in and the green light (indicating "full charge") comes on
immediately; no orange light. Press the 'reset' button and the unit
(eventually) resets and wakes up, and the orange light comes on.
If the unit is not discharged all the way, then plugging in the AC
adapter even when the unit is off works OK. Orange light comes on, unit
charges normally.
Very weird. Only happens after the upgrade.
