Nope, they don't.
Hard drives are ATA style devices, which the Newton doesn't support - just
like the newer style flash ROM cards. Somebody could, in theory, write
drivers. But I doubt that it will happen; it's non-trivial, especially
given the lack of useful documentation from Apple on low level stuff.
