Is the Newton 9w adapter functional at other voltages than 110? Will it
work in Europe at 220v with a plug adapter, or do I have to buy a voltage
converter?

If you use an Apple rechargeable battery pack, that's what you need to do:
let them in your MessagePad, and plug
your power adapter. If you're working on your MessagePad at the same time,
it will take a bit longer to recharge
the batteries, but they should recharge anyway.
