You can make your own with NiMH AA rechagables with the battery tray and some
modifications, although I've never done it. There's instructions on the web.
You can buy new battery packs. usually has some for about $30
+ shipping.

(I used to have two spare packs when the newt got canceled but sold them when I
relized mine's lasting forever by itself. Still going strong)
