There is a small hinge at the battery and accu case which keeps the
compartment inside the Newton. If e.g. during dropping the Newt onto a
floor the hinge is damaged the contact force might be to small to be
reliable and a small movement or impact might cause your power problems.
So forget cleaning but look carefully to that small hinges. They must
look equal at each compartment.
