It could be, but as I said, I have extra batteries, and I am not interested
in handwriting. I am interested in taking notes, drawings, etc.

Oh, I hate them too. I just don't ever use handwriting unless I have
to. I print very clearly as well. It isnt an issue because I don't
consider it something I use too often anyhow. And if I did, what is
interesting is that HWR on the thinkpad might actually be better for my
style of writing. I write by connecting some letters and not others--it
confuses the cursive and the printed newt recognizers. On the thinkpad I
guess it is supposed to keep track of letter combinations and not single
letters or words.

As far as speed is concerned. I don't really care too much about it. The
2000 takes forever to scroll through notes, and honestly a large screen
would be an improvement to that as well. I love the newton, it is awesome,
but I personally need a big screen. All i'm going to be using is a
multiple page drawing program or the notebook program that comes with Pen
For Win, to take sketch-type notes. That's pretty much it.

As I said, I haven't gotten it yet, nor the 16meg upgrade. When I do, I
will report if it is a challenge to the newton in my own personal use for
it or not. The best case scenario for me is that it if it can take notes
as easily as the newton, and sync up with SideKick 2.0(which I can just
load on to it)
If it cant take notes at all, in a fashion that is superior to the newton,
then I will turn around and sell it off on ebay again. The big dea lis
that I just get so sick of scrolling through notes that are really just a
page long when printed. I like to see a lot at once.

Example: With my 120, I could take notes that were mostly definitions,
stuff without drawings mostly. With my 2000, I am able to take notes with
drawings and stuff (it is great for subjects like biology and
anthropology), and in the dark too--- but nothing like a math problem, or a
design of a program I have to draw because it usually isnt wide enough to
work. I have to keep all my practice math problems in a notebook because
it just isn't as easy to read on the newt.

I don't use the keyboard on my newt because it is disruptive, being the
loudest notebook keyboard in existence. At least now my newton makes
sounds realistic enough so that most people don't notice that I am using it
unless they actually see it. It is hilarious to, after like several weeks
worth of classes, finally see people asking me "what is that?" In a big
classroom, those sounds are indistinguishable from the sounds of a notebook.

Honestly, if Apple made a tablet sized newton, I would buy it in a
second! I don't dislike the newton, I love it---but I need something
bigger. We'll see what happens--keep an eye on this and I still want to
hear other people's responses.
