You forgot to add that Apple allows you to download some of the oldest
OSes from their FTP site free of charge
up to 7.5.5 which is the equivalent of Win98 (just a few years ahead)..
If I am not mistaken Microsoft even charges (small developers) for the
prerelease version of their Os
