Well, I do know about Timbuktu but, I have never heard of VNC. What is VNC?
What platform does it run on? Where can I get more info or download the
software?
Please advise.

Most of you have probably heard of VNC. For those who haven't, it's an
application that allows you to see a desktop on a remote system, like
Timbuktu. It's arguably less featured, but it's free (free of charge and
free of source). There are servers and clients for many of the mainstream
OS's, and there are clients for the "Lite" clients like WinCE and PalmPilot.
