I think I did paste color pictures in NewtonPress that were converted to
grayscale. Didn't notice any degradation. Initially, I was doing the
conversion in Photoshop from colors to 16 grays, then I tried a couple
directly pasted in NP and I didn't notice any degradation. This was all
done on a Macintosh, though.
