Hi Jaime,
I have been using my Newton for 3 years now - it has helped with my
thesis - I use it as a sort of digital lab-book and organiser. The
120 is fine but it does suffer from the limitation of not having
enough "heap" (memory) to run software. This is most obvious when
attempting to connect to the internet - you simply can't with any
great success. It really won't work. The 130 has twice as much heap
and also a backlight.
The problem of limited heap really just came to my attention recently
when I attempted to use NewtNotes - an endnotes application
(reference manager) for the newton - the 120 was just too feeble.
I'm considering getting a 130 or better.
Any OS 2.0 newton supports the keyboard - make sure that the 120 you
get (if you get it) runs OS 2.0.
The newton connects to the imac using a USB -> serial adaptor and it
works well.
Any connectivity software you need is generally available on the web.
The most common is Newton Connection utilities is a desktop computer
utility which is made by Apple and simply connects to your newton
serially using the bulit in connection utilities on the newton. It
will backup, synchronise and download packages to your Newton.
Any Newton you buy will give you great fun (and help productivity) - good luck,
Richard
