Lucent WaveLan cards are normal 16-bit PC Cards (I tested and helped to
implement a network of them last summer). As for getting someone to write
a driver, Hirochi Noguchi is (AFAIK) the only developer still developing
Ethernet drivers. On his web page:

he still has plans for a WaveLAN driver, but that hasn't been updated
recently.
