I think I already replied to this in csnm, but if not, then here it is.
Are you getting other sounds, beside Speak Text? If so, maybe the prefs
are somehow corrupted. Open InOut. Tap the "i" button on the left hand
side. From the popup that appears, select "Speak Text Prefs". Then, in
the slip that opens, tap "Reset Prefs". Close the slip and see if it
works. If not, then I would suggest deleting both "SpeakText:NEWTON" and
"MacInTalk" in the extensions folder and try to re-install.
