You could try to get a LocalTalk connector and use it directly with your Newton.
If you have a 1x0, then the DIN-8 plug of the LocalTalk connector will plug
directly in the serial port. If you're using an eMate or MP2x00, then I guess
you'll have to plug the DIN-8 in the interconnect adapter (like your keyboard or
your serial cable), at least for the MP2x00, I'm not sure for the eMate. A
LocalTalk network can physically supports up to 32 devices if I recall
correctly. The only problem would be to find this LocalTalk connector. I've
found one on eBay some time ago for $15, so you might want to look there, or
maybe SmallDogs have some of them, or Sun Remarketing (although their stuff
seems to be overpriced).
