NTLK NCU Sync to Now 3.6.5?

I recently obtained a copy of NCU and am trying to sync it to my Now
calendar and contact file, v3.6.5. Each time I get an error as the newton
tries to backup the dates, stating that it could not access the file.

I know that NCU lists only Now 3.5 programs as sync-able, but afaik the
files are the same - and the newt doesn't choke on the contacts file.

Any ideas?

(I do have and use Now Synchronize, but as MacWorld's review says, it's
"execrable.")
