The actual lifespan of CD-Rs may be longer than 5 to 10 years, but also
much shorter. CD-Rs in the CD changer in your car won't last long,
especially in the summer, while CD-Rs stored in darkness and at low
temperature may last quite some time. Important backups should be copied
to another CD-R (or whatever is in favor then) every couple of years.
