Newton devices previous to the MP120 use static RAM (SRAM) for storage,
thus they require battery backup. Newton devices after the MP120 use flash
RAM for storage, which requires no battery backup. The MP120 is unusual as
there are two versions of it. The 1MB version uses SRAM like the MP110 and
earlier models, and the 2MB version uses flash like the MP130 and later
models.
