Again, a well thought post. After being in the US for about 3 years now, from Quebec, in Canada, I would maybe add that there aren't that many "ugly-Americans". Sure, there are some,
but, in general, IMHO, most people I've met have always been very nice, very sensitive, and sometimes curious about me. In fact, I've been mostly surprised to meet many people that knew
a lot about the outside world, many of them were even speaking French! I'm in the Washington DC area, so that may count for something or not, I don't know. This is where I've been since
I came in the US.
