Standalone Software (http://www.standalone.com/) has utility to do that,
it's called Sleep Screen. It will let you to setup the delay for light sleep
mode (when just screen turns off), during that you can turn on the Newt with
just one tap. The batteries are being consumed lightly during the light
sleep. After the delay Newton turns itself fully off (power button required
to turn it on again). Too bad that it seems to be incompatible with the
DashBoard...
