The folks writing in favor of the hack can be equally accused of attempting
to "impose". I don't see much difference, really. David Humphreys isn't
forcing you to do anything, and neither is anyone else (that I know of ;).
Ray Olson's comment of:

...was out of line (in my opinion, of course) and really uncalled for. I
guess that counts as me taking the "moral high ground," but hey... ;) Just
because you don't agree doesn't mean you have to attack him/his family.
Since I'm writing, I'll add that I agree with the majority view, and I'm
pleased that so much effort was spent trying to track down the software
owners.
However, I'm sure David Humphreys is a pretty good guy: he has a Newton,
is looking into backlight replacements and the like, and is still
contributing to the community. If he writes any software and disappears,
don't use it--he probably wouldn't like it. ;) Other than that, though, be
nice!
