The feature of global/local (application based) folder is genuine. Global
folder can be accessed from anywhere, but why not to have couple of local
folders just for your notes, extras drawer or password storing application
for example? How you'll set them up depends only on your needs and taste.
There are two folder organization programs to my knowledge. Silverware's
Unlimited Folders ($25) and More Folders ($20) from Standalone. Both
packages have the similar functionality. They extend NOS maximum limit of 12
folders to unlimited and enable hierarchical (nested) folders. Other feature
is easier filling process by reducing the number of pen taps required, this
is handled by UF somehow better. On top of that, UF has utility to manage
all your folders, change local to global, etc. It has it's own folder
releated diagnostic and problem-solving capability. I'm not aware about any
disadvantage it brings.
Possible problems with folders might be caused by corrupted system soup
where the structure is stored. But this is nothing you have to be afraid of
if you do back up regularly.
