did you also clean the contacts on the mainboard? (be
very careful using a pencil eraser on the flex
cable...those traces are just carbon...and hey, what
is pencil lead anyway?
Under the flex strip you will also notice that there
is a rubber strip. I would suggest that you pull this
out and turn it around (don't flip the downside up,
just turn it arround) this will possibly allow a
better compression.
Once you assemble the thing, place all the screws
loosly then use a torquing sequence. Standard torquing
sequences are to tighten all screws semi snug in a
right to left order skipping every other screw, then
returning to the right most and snugging down the ones
you skipped. Then return to the beginning and do this
all over again, and snug the screws tighter. Continue
to do this untill all the screws are at similar
tightness.
