Actually, I do not think that Ed said anything bad about Jobs. He said that
he keeps a secret better than just about anyone. He never said he was
incompetent. Just the opposite. You never know exactly what is going to
come out of apple. So, until you hold in your hand the mythical new pda
from apple, I would not believe a thing.
Steve Jobs does good at things that interest him. I believe the Newton was
killed because he did not like it. I read somewhere that he called it "That
scribble thing". The Newton was the ONE thing that apple made that crossed
all platforms. Look at the kind of traffic ThisOldNewt gets. Everyone who
tried a Newton loved it. Even today, two years after it was discontinued,
people are still converting. And this is with NO support from Apple! I am
leaning toward purchasing a MAC computer of some kind, to support my Newton.
I would not be inclined to do this if I were not a Newton user. Given this,
and the fact that he killed it...is it so hard to believe that he will not
make another? Most likely, they will make a MAC CE or something. I am not
sure that would be as cool as a Newton. I am hoping that someone will
create a Newton like replacement. Same Size, same Feel.
