I remember seeing the "scribble thing" in a news article, too. Could it be
a massive red herring to keep people off the trail? What better way to keep
things quiet than to put down the Newton Cult and its sacred Newt? There
was the promise to come out with something that would 'replace' the newton,
or some-such idea.
Anyway, I talked with a Newton programmer guy and asked if there was any
possibility that a machine could be made that was the size of the palm, more
or less, thin like the Palm, but had the handwriting capabilities of the
Newton and the ability to write on the whole screen. He seemed to think
that that was very do-able, but the processor would have to be stronger to
accommodate the handwriting recognition. Does anyone have any ideas about
how that'd work with the screen being completely write-able? How feasible is
that?
Seems to me that it'd be fairly easy for Apple to come up with something
that'd beat the tar out of the Palm without even batting an eye (granted,
the Newton does that already, by miles and miles. I'm referring to the size
factor).
