NTLK Sources and a bit about the GUI thread

Dear All,
I was wondering if anyone out there has any desktop software which they
would consider lending me the to. Reason? Well essential I use neither
Windows or Mac (or Linux), and would like to get the code to execute on
a RiscOS box.

Particular Software seached for includes transfer software (is NCU still
copywrited?), and kind of syncronisation software, package downloaders,
ScrawlSofts YAZI package maker, you get the idea :-)

Anything that I can get to work under RiscOS will go on my website
(Newton with A Vengeance - http://lightning.prohosting.com/~lard/Newton)

Also speaking of RiscOS, I've noticed a bit of thread about GUI's going
on later, so I'll throw in my 0.02UKP to the matter...

IMHO, RiscOS is the greatest OS every made (not that I'm biased), but it
originally came out in about 1988 and back then had some impressive
features

full anti-aliasing of onscreen fonts

the samefontmangager is used for printing, hence printing is absolutely on
paper as it is on screen),

ability to change screen mode without restarting,

full startup in about 4 seconds,

responsive (full solid window drags were simple on a 7 MHz machine
running RiscOS),

efficient OS (most apps are less than 1Mb in disk Space, and keep the
related files together, so to uninstall something, I simply delete it)

and (and this would be favourite reason) it doesn't treat as if you're
stupid (like certain cough, MS, cough, OS), if I want to delete
something then OS assumes I know what I'm doing and will only repeatadly
ask me if I've set the Confirm option - why should the OS think that if
a program is about to be deleted that I want to keep it?? And if I want
to see what commands are being passed to the Modem during dial-up
networking why the hell shouldn't I see them (just try doing that in
Windows!)

Also (this is my last point, you've made it this far, you might as well
go on), RiscOS is one of 2 operating Systems in the World which is
entirely based on ARM architecture (NewtonOS being the Other), and as a
matter of Historical interest it's RiscOS, which brought Acorn to the
point of building the first ARM chips and spinning off Arm Ltd - hence
in a way RiscOS is the Parent of NewtonOS. If anyone would like to
discuss this further please email me, or there is a messageboard on my
Website, feel free to start a thread or 2 going on there and I'll answer
it. On a final note, you may like to know the Psion are now releasing
the Netbook (why should this interest you?) well the thing about the
Netbook is that it's ARM powered and allows the OS to be softloaded from
A flash ROM, hence I'm hoping that RiscOS will arrive on it, but
NewtonOS could also be possible (I don't know how much of the Newton
Hardware is custom stuff, but it might happen).

Anyway, I'm off before I really bore everyone
