I use both Newt's Cape with a 33baud modem and Internet Explorer on an NT at work. Sure the desktop is faster at browsing, but Newt's Cape really excels as an off-line browser. If I just want to check out a web-site that somebody has mentioned, I use the desktop. But if I really want to gather and read a lot of information, Newt's Cape is far superior to the desktop. Using the autolinking features, I can download all the articles in the WashingtonPost/NYTimes, e.g., at one go, and read them at a later time when it's more convenient (in the train, whatever). In that sense Newt's Cape is much more useful than any desktop browser I've ever used. So for my personal purposes, the above comparison is pretty meaningless - it's like comparing the Newton and a desktop in terms of portability - the result is a foregone conclusion.
If you want to browse a lot of web-sites and just skim the contents, the desktop is tops. But if you want to grab a lot of in-depth articles and read them at your leisure, Newt's Cape is definitely the way to go.
