We use FirstClass in the school district that I work in, and I am
successfully using my MP2100 to retrieve and send mail, both dialup and
over the ethernet network. I never could get Retriever to work, so I just
use SimpleMail.
You can set SimpleMail up so it'll work with your FirstClass server. You
may need to ask your IT person for the correct settings. I just told mine
that the SMTP and POP servers are FirstClass.xxxx.xxxx.edu, where the x's
are the rest of my domain name. I think that FirstClass tag at the
beginning of the domain name is standard for FirstClass servers.
So, if you're not set on using FCR+ to get your mail, make the switch to
SimpleMail: http://ds.dial.pipex.com/simple/
