Have you tried any other cards in that slot yet? I once thought I fried
my upper slot (where I always put my 3c589D) but after doing the
remove-all-power-and-wait-an-hour boogie whatever was wrong with the
hardware went away and I was able to use it again. You may also have to
do a deep reset... I don't remember exactly what I did right now. But if
you put a memory card into that same slot and it doesn't work then this
probably your problem.
