Whew! I'm chewing through bandwidth, I know, and I'm grateful for all the
help I'm getting. More evidence in the whole "Power Interrupted" story:
Since I received the Newt, the 20MB card was in the bottom slot, and the
ethernet card was in the top slot. When I left both slots empty, I never
saw the power off part. Then, I did two things at once ( bad methodology,
I know ) that could have fixed things. First I performed the "Prefs"
erase, and I put the 20MB card in the top slot. I put a modem card in the
bottom slot ( mostly to have something in there, I don't have the plastic
inserts ) and things were great! I've got mondo storage again, with no
freak outs! I'm sooo jazzed! However, on a hunch ( to see if it was
the "Prefs" erase that solved the problem, I swapped slots, and put the
20MB card in the lower slot. Less than a minute into making a new Note,
POOF! Shut down. Okay, so I'm thinking it might be my lower slot.
Probably something beyond what I can do by fiddling with the case open.
Since I don't have ethernet drivers ( or NIE 2.0 for that matter )
installed yet, and I don't have my modem cable, I can't really try out
the lower slot with something active.
Anyone wanna make an armchair diagnosis? Do the two slots have a
preference for what kind of application they want to deal with? Once I
get one or the other ( ethernet drivers or modem cable ), I'll see if it
konks out with a communication card in the lower slot.
Thanks for all the help, everyone.
