His mentor (a blind old wise man) always called him "Grasshopper" (best said with fake Chinese accent) when imparting some nugget of wisdom upon him.
Hmmm. Thinking about it, I can now see that "The Pretender" is a combination of "The fugitive", "Kung Fu", and "Gilligan's Island".
