Thanks to Robert Benschop and Marco Mailand for advice on
this problem:

--------------------
I am trying to synch a 2100 to a Ti G4 Powerbook. The 2100
synches perfectly well with my old desktop (I use Claris
Organiser as the target). I got a Newmotion mini idock to do

serial to usb. They claim to work on Newtons. I cannot do
synch on "Dates".

1. NCU recognises the 2100 through the converter just fine.
2. It works using the 'typewriter' function.
3. I can synch Names and Notepad.
4. When trying to synch Dates I get "Preparing for synch"
(on the Ti) and "backing up dates" on the 2100.
5. Then I get a connection error - connection lost error
(-28016).

I have tried the latest driver downloaded from the Newmotion

site. I have copied and reloaded the Claris Organiser file.
(This used to break synch problems in the old days.)

Does anyone know the error message and what should be done
about it?
-----------------------------

The answer lay in getting a 'clean' date file, as the one on
the Ti was corrupt. This was easy for me as I keep my main
Organizer file on my desktop machine. Backed up the desktop
machine to the Newton. Made a blank Organizer file on the
Ti. Synched the Newton to the Ti giving the Newton
preference of records under the "synch preferences"
"advanced choices". This put the contents of the Newton in
the blank file and the resulting file is 'clean.'

I have a suspicion, that synchers should watch for, that
this problem occurs when you create event banners in Claris
Organizer. Can anyone verify this??
