Sorry to be jumping into this thread so late...
Just another voice to add to the chorus of, "this is an excellent
idea." While I have some prgramming skills, I've never done any
Newton programming and am a MIDI neophyte, and I can offer the
typical but-I-have-no-time cop out. However, if I can in some way
aid in development or testing, I would be quite happy to do so.
Regarding the discussion that's taken place so far, this is a task
the Newt is more than capable of--I've a friend who still uses a Mac
Plus as a MIDI sequencer. All it has to do is spit MIDI commands to
the serial port, which can then go through one of those old MIDI-
serial converters (or in my case, directly into a synth, as mine has
a serial port).
Looking forward to seeing what comes of this...
