For what it's worth, if you buy a serial cable to attach the Newton to the PC and then find that you want to use a keyboa=
rd or a printer with the Newton, you will have to also buy a dongle. In this case you may be spending $40-45. Apparently=
with prolonged use, the serial port can become damaged. It looks like the Serial modification will save you the hassel o=
f the dongle and the cost, about $30 and should be more durable than the tiny 26 pin connector.

Subject: [NTLK] Connectivity
AS you all know I am getting a newton 2000. The guy that I bought it
from does not have the cables to hook the newton to the computer. So I am in
need for some advice. If I buy a compatible network card for the newton. Do
I just pop the card in the newton and should it work? Say I get the 3com
3c589d card will it work out of the box? I can buy the SER 001 card but 60
dollars seems a little to much. Is there any other way I can connect the
newton to the computer and possibilities. So I can get my self going and
running up.
