Hello Brian,
I did not follow the discussion before, but for me (as an electrical engineer) this looks like a hardware problem of improper battery connection. Do you use the battery pack only or do you have the external power supply connected as well?
I have not seen the Emate hardware so far, but it should be possible to check if there is enough pressure on the contacts and if the contacts are pretty clean (especially inside the Emate). Maybe the Emate has to be opened to check this.
Of course there is a possibility to get it fixed professionally, and moreover if you live in the UK, but this is very expensive:
it is the Apple European Central Product Repair Center (ECPRC), located at Dunstable Bedfordshire.

But if you do not want to spent a lot of money, you can send it to me (for the expenses of the delivery by mail) just to give it a try.
Regards
Johannes

Betreff: [NTLK] e-Mate problems
Awhile back I asked the list about some difficulties I
was having with the power supply on my e-Mate.
General consensus was that I needed to replace the
battery pack.
I have finally changed the batteries and things have
only gotten worse. Although the pack is charged, if I
close the door and then open it again, half the time
there will be a re-boot and the message that "all
power was removed."
I would be happy to do a Hard Reset and reinstall the
packages, but now the touch-screen isn't responding at
all, so when I get to the "Do you want to erase data
completely?" screen, I can't choose either Yes or No,
so it won't reset.
Any ideas? Does anyone know if Apple has anywhere I
could get this looked at/fixed in the UK?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Brian Miller
