Or you could use a news server that processes killfiles. (I think that's
the right term.)
Basicially, when a news admin notices that there are obvious spam messages
being posted, he adds the message ID to a list of messages that should be
removed, and this list gets propagated throughout the news servers. I
read my news through my University's news server, and since we have
competent admins, I seldom get to see any of this spam.
