Actually, this isn't true, though there are a couple of packages in the
Ethernet set that are copy protected, Ethernet connection to a desktop will
work without them.
This fact has saved quite a few times, since I do have two eMates and a 2100
in the house but a desktop without a serial connection, only Ethernet.
