Pixsolution has some software for download from their site... I used this
with my hacked newt, to test the speed-up. It complained greatly that the
clockspeed I was using (with the 5.0 MHz crystal) was not a proper Implant
speed. I also have it on good authority (from Paul Guyot) that crystals
faster than 5.0 MHz will not function due to a speed limitation of the ROM
chips.
If I were you, I would probably leave the Implant alone. It's worth a fair
bit of $ and I doubt you'll see any vast increase in going from 4.912 to 5.0
as the base frequency.
However, technically yes I can't think of any reason why you shouldn't be
able to squeeze another MHz or two out of it by upping the reference
frequency to 5.0 MHz.
