Not so daft! It is an internal replacement port for the MP2000 that
eliminates the need for the dongle. David Humphries designed and built
about 60 of them that are now being sold.I can't seem to find a link
for his page at the moment but you may find it mentioned at TON (This
Ol' Newt).
No soldering is required and it is stronger than the original port. A
mini din is used to allow a direct serial connection to the newt.
There may even be an audio out port for earphones. Don't know for
sure. Anyway it's quite the feat. Roman
